About Us
Breaking Barriers Rehab Center, founded in 1998, has been working with individuals who sustained traumatic brain injuries for over twenty years. Our program addresses the psychiatric, cognitive, behavioral and physical dynamics associated with brain injury. Through the use of both individual and group centered discussion and activity groups, individuals are assisted with processing grief, remediation of basic and advanced cognitive processing skills and developing compensatory strategies in an effort to resume productive and purposeful functioning in the home, community and vocational environments.
While all individual injuries and subsequent problems are unique, the majority of the clients share a common loss of functioning and independence as well as the associated grief. Clients are provided an environment in which they are both supported and challenged in order to increase their understanding of their own injuries and limitations and formulate a gradual return to functioning in a safe, healthy and consistent manner. Education and instruction are provided regarding both basic and advanced functioning following a traumatic brain or catastrophic injury.
